Undergravel Filter What's A Good Setup If I Want To Use An Undergravel Filter And Sand?

What's a good setup if I want to use an undergravel filter and sand? - undergravel filter

Currently I have the filter plate with a couple of inches of gravel on top. Then I got a little sand on gravel. I want this only because I really have aquatic plants.

Therefore, this configuration is correct? My other option is to get rid of it is under-gravel filter, gravel and sand with only the walk.

Sand filters can clog the plates?

UGF and sand do not mix. The sand filter plate and remove the filter unusable. Get rid of the FMU, sand, if you want and get a different kind of filter, and to ensure that the cycle of the new filter before the UGF.

Yes, the sand still make their way through. The lower filter is removed by suction to draw in the sand.

Yes, you can both at once. It's more a pain than nothing, but possible. So I had set up a saltwater tank at one point, and I'm sure it's the same way with a fresh water tank work.

Replace the filter in the bottom of the tank, then add an inch or two of gravel to be used. On top of gravel, to a fine mesh screen. (I used fiberglass window screen). Push the corners on the sides of the bowl, then add the sand, you are at the top of the screen.

You may have some sand trickles through that the screen and into the gravel, but if you have a pretty good picture, no problem.

The only problem I found, the plant roots. And to connect and grow through the screen, a particular pain if you ever want in a day or take a train.

And yes, it really works for you ..... more info

The other way, I'd say it would be better and easier it will be put half a centimeter of the earth (if you're spending money, laterite or Flourite a good choice for plants) and then add one or two centimeters above the sand.

If you keep fish, dig or dig in the sand, then yes, some of the gravel will eventually you reach the summit of the sand. Depending on what you can use the land to be made for the decoration of good though.

Best to leave the panel filters when to plant. You can only go a container planted in the sand, but I recommend a mixture of sand and fine gravel, which seems to work well for me. The sand pack is too narrow for good root formation and gravel, sometimes it helps to prevent.
